This Thursday, May 15, ECOLO brought up several topics during the municipal council:

ECOLO Enghien has indeed tabled a motion to make our municipality an anti-fascist entity. At a time when the far right and fascism are resurfacing all over the world and even in Belgium, it is essential to uphold our values of freedom and solidarity, which are the foundation of our democracy, and to affirm our desire to continue living together regardless of our origins, our culture, or our realities. Since the majority has proposed a few amendments, our motion will be voted on at the next municipal council meeting.

Through the voice of Nathalie Vast, ECOLO drew the attention of the majority to 𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮i𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗱’𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗶 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻, 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗶 𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘀 é𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀. Indeed, following the decision of the Arizona government (with the MR and the Engagés) to exclude people from unemployment after 2 years, people with ALE status may well no longer have access to this status on January 1, 2026 and therefore no longer be able to welcome our children.
There is a great risk that we will no longer have enough people to fulfill this task. This must be made known at the federal level and prevented from happening! Furthermore, 𝗰’𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗿é𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗱’𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗶 𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘀 to 𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘁 and who will once again be financially dependent on their spouse if they no longer have access to unemployment or integration income. This is therefore a significant step backwards in terms of women’s rights…

𝗟𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳 𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗲 𝗹é𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘁 𝗿è𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲. Remarks that do not correspond to the truth are made by the majority in the municipal council and outside by certain members of the executive office in what increasingly looks like a settling of scores (the majority’s desire to reshuffle the team at Nautisport dates back to November 2024 when it had not even taken office yet, evidence to support this).
Finally, the majority’s inaction regarding a stolen video from Nautisport’s surveillance cameras is of great concern to us. How can we ensure that other videos are not also circulating? How can we ensure that Nautisport users, including the many children who play sports there, do not end up in videos in circulation? 𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗢 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳 𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱é 𝗮𝘂 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗲 𝗾𝘂’𝗶𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗺é𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿 à 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗮.
No answer at this stage. One of the avenues proposed by ECOLO is to increase the powers of the Executive Board and perhaps return to a composition similar to that established during the last legislature, with two members from the majority and one from the opposition.
